Redirection

Ages ago, I decided to make up greetings cards and sell them from my website. After a while, I thought that the best way to get more sales was to make sure that each card had information on where it had come from, so I made up some labels as well as some business cards to go in with each order. The only problem was that the URL was really long; it looked off-putting for one thing, but also it didn't fit on the labels and business cards either.

I've been using Bravenet for various webtools for as long as I've had a website which is several years now. They have a redirection service where you can set up a short URL to use so I set up http://continue.to/angelitocards. It was so handy, because it looks good and fitted on the labels and business cards.

However, I've now had an e-mail from Bravenet to say that they're stopping this service at the end of the month. I'm really annoyed. All the labels and business cards I've made up are now useless and I've wasted money on them too. I suppose I could be glad that no one had actually bought any of the cards so the redirection URL isn't known to anyone although that's a bit of a crappy thing to be glad about! At least I used Vistaprint for the labels and cards so all I paid was postage, but even so, it's still money down the drain and right now, I can't afford to waste any. Hence the whole trying to sell stuff in the first place! Gahhhhh. I've found out that you can set up a custom alias with TinyURL but I'm now wary of doing that and making up more labels with it on only to have that stop working too. I don't know what to do!
