I got the December issue of SFX magazine the other week and it had a special offer for GAME inside. It was for an extra 10% on trade-ins up to November 3rd. I had quite a few DS games that I'd been intending to trade in for a while, so that seemed like a good reason to do it on Saturday morning. I also wanted to return the Grand Theft Auto game I'd got for my PS2 because when I started to play it last weekend, I realised that although the cover said Liberty City Stories, the disc was for Vice City Stories. I went to GameStation first and got that swapped. It was the same dark haired lad who'd sorted out my PS2 when I had to return it and he looked at the receipt to see who had served me. Apparently it was Jeff (Geoff?) which seemed to explain everything. I had a look at their PS2 games to see what else they had to offer. They still had the 4 for £20 dealy on and I managed to find enough so that should keep me quiet for a bit. I got The Simpsons Hit and Run, Lego Star Wars, Beyond Good And Evil, and The Sims 2.

After that I went to GAME to trade in my DS games. I was a little annoyed that they wouldn't take my copy of Cooking Mama 2 because it was an American version. It's in a black box so it seems to be pretty obvious straight away - I checked the other games I'd got in the US and they're all in black boxes too so it looks like I won't be able to trade any of those in either. Grrrr. That's really irritating. There wasn't much there that I wanted, there's some good games coming out yet but nothing right now as far as I can tell. I just got Another Code: Two Memories which I've been considering for a while and it was a pre-owned one so it was a bit cheaper.

While I was in town, I decided to call into 3. I've been waiting for Skype to be available for my handset since I got it and there's a new version now which seemed to be the right one but I couldn't download it. It kept saying that the certificate was invalid by the date on my phone. It was very bizarre but I thought I'd nip into the shop while I was there to see what the problem was. When I explained it to the sales assistant, she took one look at my phone and said that Skype won't work on it; actually, it's the one handset that it won't work on. To say I was gobsmacked is a bit of an understatement. I'd specifically said when I was signing up that I wanted Skype and was told that this was the best handset to have. I was further told that as I'd had the phone for over 3 months, there was nothing they could do and I was stuck with it. And on top of that, as I'd got it from the Southport store, I had to go there to sort it out. Despite the fact that I was told by the person at the Southport store that I could go into any branch because all their records were computerised and could be accessed from anywhere. The person who dealt with me was actually from the Preston branch but does not seem to exist there as they were all in the store when I was there and he wasn't one of them. Really not impressed.

I'd played The Simpsons game when I got back yesterday and this morning, decided to play the Lego Star Wars one. I was doing quite well with it until it froze all of a sudden. When I looked at the disc, it was rather scratched so I presumed that was the problem. I put the Sims 2 game in instead to have a go of that but it wouldn't load up. I tried the Simpsons game and that wouldn't either. Same result with the Guitar Hero 3 disc which I know works because I've been playing it a lot. I have no idea what the problem is except that it looks like the actual console is broken in some way. Great. So instead I played my new DS game which I'd starte playing yesterday. And finished it. It was just like a glorified point-and-click game really so it wasn't that hard.

So I've not had the best of weekends really. It doesn't help that I've not been very well. I was fine up until Thursday night when I had a very severe dizzy spell completely out of the blue. I felt better Friday morning, but after dinner, I was feeling dizzy again. Same on Saturday too. Thankfully I don't feel quite as dizzy today, though I still have occasional spells of it. My head also feels kind of heavy and slow, like when you sleep too deep and wake up all of a sudden. Hopefully I'll be feeling much better tomorrow. I've got a conference to go to on Tuesday for my Trans Support job so I want to be closer to 100% if I can!
