Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Day Two

In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.

hpsapphicappeal is currently my absolute favourite fandom place.  It's a femmeslash comm, but it's more than just that.  It has, to date, hosted a totally fabulous fest, plus the Bertie Bott's 100 flavours table challenge, plus Sapphic Stockings over Christmas. And you can always post femmeslash fanworks there outside of fest times.  It's fabulous!  I love the community lots, and I'm looking forward to seeing more events happening there in the new year (Femmeslash February, anyone?)

The Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenges Forum.  Okay, yes, I know, I know, ff.net *gasp*.  Whatever.  This forum is awesome.  The thing that's great about it is that it's so self-directed.  There are mods (I'm one of them), but all the challenges are created by ordinary members.  Unlike the fest structure that's popular on LJ, where every individual fest is a big ordeal involving anonymity and multiple steps, the challenges hosted on HPFC are usually designed to be low-stress, with a focus on inspiring writers rather than just creating works.  Because anyone can create a challenge at any time, there's a near-100 percent chance that, at any given time, there will be a challenge running that interests/inspires you.  The forum also hosts various awards and competitions, and amazingly, I have never once seen any drama or rage about people winning things, because there really is a feeling there that as long as everyone is writing and having fun, everyone is a winner!  It's idyllic, I must say.

@FriNightWrites (aka #writeclub).  Not really a fandom thing, but a great twitter to follow if (like me) you write, and if (like me) you have trouble motivating yourself.  It's basically a weekly set of word wars that take place on Fridays, in the afternoon/evening.  As an aside, I have totally failed to get into twitter as a fandom platform.  Does anyone reading this use it for primarily fandom things?  If so, please tell me about what your experience with it has been!
