Belatedly, I remembered that Viderunt Omnes, a very rare example of organum quadruplum (or four-part polyphony) was actually written specifically to be sung on Christmas Day. This version was recorded by The Hilliard Ensemble in 1988 and provides the opening track on their 1989 cd Perotin, which was one of the first in my ars antiqua-collection.

Last.fm changed its policy about a year and a half ago; from that time onwards users from outside the USA, UK and Germany were no longer able to listen to the radio for free but had to pay a monthly subscription fee. It's hot and humid and I can't sleep. Tomorrow This afternoon, The Netherlands will meet Brazil in the quarter finals of the World Cup, and I fully expect them to lose; which is a shame as I've managed to accumulate quite a nice little collection of Oranje icons over the last few weeks that now, sadly, will have to go unused.
