Quite honestly, I don't think it's worth worrying about. There are plenty of negative stereotypes about male gamers as well, some of which you have evoked in your own article.
Also, there are a lot of girls out there who, unfortunately, give the rest of us a bad reputation. I'm talking about the actual camwhores who get what they want through sex (or promises of sex) and end up getting whatever they want. I've played MUDs with those kinds of girls... they'd get into elite pvp clans purely through their feminine charms whereas I had to grief the hell out of the leaders of those clans before I could even hope to get in. If this guy (I'm assuming it's a guy, though you can never be sure online) has only encountered girls who fit the stereotypes that he describes, I can understand him being pissed at the whole gender.
Moreso, how do you know who you're facing off against is a man or a woman, generally? My own screen name is DKH- that doesn't really give any hints. Origamifrog? I dunno.... That doesn't give any hints either

What about in rpgs where there are male and female avatars? I mean I know its ludicris to assume that females always play female avatars, and vice-versa, as much as it is rediculous to assume that when one plays AT on the USA side in bf2 that they're black, but still female avatars in WoW, RO, FFXI, etc will continually get gifts of gold, red pots, heals, and will also get hassled by others.
Giving him advertising. However, you're right that he's wrong when it comes to girl gamers. I personally want to see more women get into gaming to bring alittle more maturity to it :)
Thats kinda sad. Sure women gamers aren't abundant, but the point brought in this article is that of the environment they are in. If their friends happened to be gamers or they have an interest in fantasy or some other genre that gaming is in, they can or have an interest in gaming.
But to just plainly say the female gamers suck is wrong. I've had my ass served on a silver platter by a girl or 2 (cant tell sometimes but the one I know is awesome) but Im not complaining, or im complaining about lag or some other lame excuse. But I know that it was cause I didn't do well.
For Rom, head of communications (!) for game gear makers SteelSeries and Icemat, the problem seems not so much about female gamers but about gender in general. The blogger, who describes himself as a "solid state futurist and digital karma atheist," questions the chops of female gamers and conflates their perceived lack of skill with gender. At the same time he totally ignores social factors that dissuade women from pursuing technological expertise.
Yeah right, all he is saying women should reach their goals by playing, not with cleavage.
By holding that women gamers are sponsored solely for their physical beauty illustrates just how wrong-headed and testosterone-fueled his argument is.
Well he seems to be pretty big in the business, i trust his opinion more on this. He also never said it was ONLY for their physical appearance, but still a huge part of their marketing.

Probably the main thing that redeems him is this paragraph:
"There are exceptions to most rules, granted. One of them is my own wife, who won the world championship in Counter-Strike Women at the Electronic Sports World Cup in 2004. The players on her team, All4One, consisted of dedicated gamers. The players worked hard to improve their skill and they despised non-gaming related attention. I know of a few other teams that feels the same way. But they are outnumbered by factor 100 by the camwhore teams.
I just wish all other female teams saw eSport in the same way - they would prove much better ambassadors to the outside world."
Of course, by that time I already had steam coming out of my ears because of the first two paragraphs. Basically, it's like if a Klansman wrote in his blog that all black sports players were lazy and shiftless criminals but oh wait, Jerry Rice is cool, he wishes there were more black sports players like Jerry Rice.
