Claire shouldn't argue with the cops. I wouldn't want to come across as a possible suspect right now.
Yep. But lots of people don't understand how to deal with cops. "Yes", "No", and "I want to speak to my lawyer" are really the only words one should ever say to a cop. No matter what. Because yeah, they're looking for a suspect. (Though I'll grant that with a suicide note and at a rich university, they might not look too hard.)
Maybe the carnival is in the US? Though that doesn't explain all the Japanese people at it. :(
I am **EXTREMELY** anti-cop. And very, VERY prejudiced against what passes for a justice system. It's been nearly two years and I can't get divorced from my asshole of an ex. My neighbor's kid molested mine and they wouldn't prosecute. Then there's the crap with my sister. And the stuff during college. And the sex offender registry BS. And people getting framed. And the incredible rate of plea bargains. The uselessness of protective orders. That
( ... )
Well, we know that Kaito brought his family to America once, for the whole exchange with baby!Claire, though the Hiro we saw there was much younger then. Still wouldn't explain Ando's presence. Also, if the crowd are mostly Japanese, that blows that theory away.
Still haven't done the actual rewatch yet, so I guess I'll see when I do.
Apparently it's the Sullivan Carnival, in Japan, 14 years ago. Which makes no sense unless the abilities being used to make the carnival a safe place are way beyond the scope of simply moving it. If it can also lure attendees en masse, calm them, bilk them of their money, and yet still stay under the radar for regulatory and law enforcement groups ... then what are they looking for? Why do they (I mean Samuel) want acceptance from the general population? Because if they can do all this, then they have it. Unless what they're saying is that by 'acceptance' they really mean dominance and they want to be in charge of everything. Which I can buy that a single madman might believe that, but for me to buy that the rest of the carnies believe it, I need more evidence of cult thinking going on, and more disconnect between the carnies and the marks.
Yeah, Jubilee parties. My mad family being mad in a good way. Sorry I wasn't able to comment. I will do my own rewatch soon though, possibly later tonight. Fingers crossed.
Cheers on the Jubilee! It looks so cool. I saw pics of the "floatilla"? on the Thames. So colorful! Were you there? I heard the weather wasnt that good for it but that it had an amazing attendance anyway.
I was at my aunt's house watching it on TV and glad I wasn't outside in the rain :) The boats were pretty but overall it was rather dull, except for being sarcastic about the people and the commentary that was provided.
We have two bank holidays, today and tomorrow. Of course, I am already on holiday and desperately searching for a job to see me through the long summer. *sigh*
Something about Samuel speaking Japanese creeps me out.
I love how decorated Annie's side of the room looks compared to Claire.

Ando and Kimiko. I feel bad for Kimiko. She was an interesting character until this episode.
I've never been to Japan so I don't know how accurate it is but it really bothers me how many signs at that carnival are in English.
