Awww, this was just a big ball of nice. I'm not sure I know what to say. I like Peter relaxed and happy. I like the idea of them playing and sexxing around the YMCA. Iooove the idea of Sylar not wanting to wash his sheets. I wouldn't want to either.

Out of all of it, this keeps standing out to me - Peter kept most of his weight up, but stayed close enough for contact. It had to be tiring for his arms, Sylar realized.

Sylar's noticing that Peter is putting himself in an uncomfortable position, presumably to stay close to Sylar, and I just love that he sees that. It shows that he's really making progress, seeing good deeds and noticing other's discomfort.

and that was what he wanted so badly, for someone to want to be with him. That is so simple it's heartbreaking. Sylar's needs are so simple, so basic. Do you think Peter's needs are more complex? I think Sylar thinks they are - not just sex or affection, but emotions, respect, connection... Are those things Sylar is truly able to live without, or is he just fooling himself? Aren't ( ... )

You know, I've been tossing around an idea recently, trying to figure it out. Maybe you can help. You see, Sylar wants to be special; Peter wants to be important. I'm trying to figure out the *difference* between these two concepts, because there *is* something different. I just can't quite lay my finger on it.

Thanks so much for the kind words, too! And I'm glad you're noticing how much more empathetic Sylar is striving to be in this story; how much he's working at it, like him sitting there in the laundry room noodling on how to keep Peter, and then you also see where I'm trying to write him putting his thinking time into effect to be a better person. Yay showing instead of telling!

Hmmm, i think the difference is that "special" implies unique. "important" does not. Important is more general, while special is more comparative. Lots of people can be important, only few can be special. Special sets you apart from the crowd more than being important does. Special implies you were never a part of the crowd to start with. it implies isolation, being on top of a pedastal, even more than being important does.

Yeah. Peter doesn't care too much if there are fifty people just like him, as long as he's getting the attention and accolades he wants. Whereas Sylar would be seriously miffed to know there was even one other people like him. Well ... maybe Sylar could tolerate there being *one* like him, if that one was wrapped around his finger.

I really love the way you write their banter. I feel like had they actually had more opportunities to banter on the show, that's what it would sound like. Thanks for sharing.

And after all that I left off commenting on this beautiful fic, shame on me. Peter's follow/don't follow dilemma was interesting to me ( ... )

I don't know why, but Peter's....intolerance? of Sylar's mouse-trap of an apartment is hilarious. I can totally see him saying something like, "Why don't you just move into a suite?" not getting the emotional connection Sylar has to his current place (assuming, that is, of course, that its THE SAME apartment as it was in S3....). Yet I think Peter would/will do the same thing if pressed. Sylar: "Why don't you just move somewhere bigger?" Peter: "Because its MY place! Its MINE! And I like it here. You, deal with it, big guy ( ... )

Among other things, Peter's starting to get serious here, trying to figure out how to move into Sylar's life. Not a big theme for the story, but you know how it plays out in the next couple chapters.

The image of Sylar having his pants thrown at him is also funny for unknown reasons. It must be the face he makes about it, in my mind.
Yeah, I have in mind the face he makes! A little affronted, startled and flattered/amused all at once.

Is Peter listing off all those places as potential sex/cuddle locations or just places to have fun? Either way its funny and cute.Mostly just to play. He's just been laid, he's feeling really happy, it's morning. He wants to go play and be fun and energetic. He wants to splash Sylar with water and tease him until Sylar grabs him and threatens to hold him under, then squirm around in his arms until he knocks them both down underwater, then come up, hands on Sylar, offer affection, call a truce and have it ( ... )

Oh thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, we're getting to the end of the story. Sylar's starting to really pull his head out of his rear end and be a better person. He's still totes sexy, though!

I think you're onto something with the special/want aspect. Certainly I think being wanted is a bigger deal to Sylar than it is to Peter. I think Peter is, in general, more secure about that than Sylar is.

Thanks so much your your compliments!
