Remember the time

RIP Michael Jackson

It's such sad news that shocked me at first, but deeply saddened me as it sank in, so I just have to mention it. My parents loved his music, so as a child it was what I listened to the most, and came to love myself. He was certainly unique, and, as I think the public have shown these past few days, he will be sorely missed.

Anyway, I have a meme that I was supposed to do a few days ago, but I got kind of sidetracked by everything. This is from lovingthecubs.

1. What would you like to be "when you grow up"?
I have always wanted to be a vet since I was a little child, and although I did have brief thoughts about writing and illustrating when I was about 10, becoming a veterinary surgeon is still my aim. I guess I've always wanted to be able to answer when people ask me what I wanted to be when I was little that I actually did become it. I still have a year before applying to universities, but I'm still currently on that track (hence my work experience at a vets' practice last year).

2. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I'm not really the kind of person who likes travelling to different countries (I've only been abroad once, to Disneyland Paris), but I think I'd like to visit Nigeria mainly because I've got lots of relatives there I've never met.

3. Favourite episode(s) of Doctor Who?
This is really tricky, but I'm gonna say The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances, The Girl in the Fireplace, Doomsday (despite how it makes me cry every time I watch it) and Midnight (which I love because of how weird and sinister it was). Oh, and pretty much the whole Master story line episodes of S3. There's so many others, but if I list them all I'll end up mentioning all of them, and that kind of defeats the point of "favourites.

4. What movies or songs do you watch/listen to when you need a "pick me up"?
Erm, I don't really have any movies that I watch to cheer me up (although I guess anything from Disney would work successfully), and music tends to leave me more emotional than before, even if it's happy. Although Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by The Beatles are songs that are really nostalgic for me, and they are comforting to hear.

5. Have you been to any concerts? And who would you love to see at a live venue?
This I can answer clearly: yes. Kaiser Chiefs in 2007, again in 2008, and Elbow in 2008 also. All great experiences! I would love to see KC again, and also Keane and Franz Ferdinand are up there on the list, because I've loved their music for so long. If they'd only tour at venues that I could get to!

And now its time for Top Gear. Bon Voyage.
