Friday
School was superfun today! I dressed in Caitlin's pretty pink-floral kimono and put my hair in a bun with a punk plastic flower-clip. I looked delicate, except for the bulky waist from bunching up all of the extra fabric under the sash, so I wouldn't trip on the hem.
It was for the Miss Universe pageant. Fifty girls are states and about twenty were countries, so we came into school dressed as our location. I had on cloth slippers, and had to take tiny-tiny steps, which was really fun to get used to. I shuffled for the first two periods, until I got used to taking itty-bitty steps. People gave me odd looks, and I couldn't lean back in any chairs because of my obi - I used so many stomach muscles not falling over on the bus - but I loved the way I looked!
Lunch, however, was a disaster. I've learned that there is no healthy lunch at school that doesn't cost three dollars a day. I simply do not have enough money for a salad since my mom got an over-the-table job and we don't get gov't lunch benefits now. The cheap lunch is a sandwhich-type-thing, or pasta, plus fries and a soda. Blech. I mean, tatsty, usually. But TERRIBLE for me. Having an oatmeal for breakfast and a small dinner won't help a whit with such a shitty lunch. I think I'm going to have to go back to the lunch I had last year when I didn't have a lunch period. A tasty V8 juice and a piece of fruit. Small, but healthy!
I'm at the library now, freaking out because I've over scheduled myself as usual. I have rehearsals falling on the same day as each other, I don't have a present for the Bat-Mitzvah I'm going to tomorrow, and I'm so flipping broke.
And I need to come up with ten bucks, uh, now, because I'm going to see "Damn Yankees" tonight at Temple.
Walking home now so I have time for dinner before I go.
