Jim Marshall had been photographing Jim Morrison and the Doors onstage at the Northern California Folk Rock Festival in 1968, but he wanted a different, more intimate shot of Morrison so he was following the lead singer around backstage. And finally Jim Morrison turns to Jim and he goes, "Hey Jim, you want your picture, here's your f*****g picture" and he puts his cigarette in his mouth and looks straight at him.
