Stranded on an island, alone

Do you ever feel like communicating with people is just too hard? I mean, most people lie to each other and this is why most divorces, crimes, and war happens. I mean that, communication is the key to everything. I've always believed that if everyone could just stop with the BS and say what they really feel, the world would be a better place. But then, sometimes when you actually make the choice to be honest with someone, you get slapped in the face. (Not literally). What's up with that? You think another person would appreciate the honesty after all the crap other people feed them. But no, people actually like eating crap! Man, it boggles the mind. Ok, I had to speak my peace about that. *Steps off soap box*

Anyway, my 21st birthday was a blast. I got a lot more presents than I ever expected, and I even made up my own drink! In Gilmore Girls fashion, I named it "The Alannah" and it's 1/4 Skyy Citrus Vodka to 3/4 Ocean Spray White Cranberry Peach juice. It's so good, it doesn't even taste like alcohol, which may not be a good thing since I could potentially make a lot of people drunk that way. lol. But don't worry, I didn't go crazy just because I'm legal. Anyway, I had a very good birthday.

And this past weekend, my mom and I went to the beach for the weekend to kind of celebrate both our birthdays. (Hers is the beginning of November.) It was so relaxing and awesome, but not nearly long enough. We even went to this "saloon" in the back of the restaurant we ate at and joined the locals for some karaoke. I hadn't done karaoke in forever but I sang Michelle Branch's "Everywhere" and even got a "rock on" from one chick. Then today we went shopping at the outlet mall on the way home and I got some really good deals. All in all, a fun weekend.

Now it's back to my boring life.

Buuuut... this weekend is the newspaper conference I'm going to with my school's newspaper, YAY!!! Hopefully, I'll catch some good seminars on publishing and stuff. I'm totally psyched.

vacation, newspaper, college, life
