[Anise's cheery tone can't fool this Fon Master. As soon as the voice clicks off, Ion makes his way across the house to Jade's room and slowly opens the door.]

[He'll find her sitting at that desk, again. (The curry's gone, because Emperor Peony hijacked it.)]

[She looks up, and blinks up at Ion.]

Oh, hey Ion! I guess you heard the news off the journals too, huh?

Yes, I did... [Nods and glances around the bare room before walking over towards Anise.] Are you all right?

Of course I am! [She gives him one of her bright, trademark smiles. She knows he knows better, but it was the principle of the matter, really.] Why wouldn't I be?

[He does know better, and her smile is met with a slight frown. Still, he's not about to convince her to become sad.] You and Jade were close, weren't you? Although, if he's gone I guess that just means he's back at home...

[She'll be ignoring that frown, yes. And going to ramble for a while.]

Yeah, he went back home - and that's a good thing! Besides, the Malnosso couldn't keep the Colonel trapped in this place for too long. This was bound to happen sooner or later, and it's better if he isn't stuck in here, with everything that's been going on around town lately!

I suppose that's true. [He grips the edge of his robes and looks down.] ...sometimes it's easy to forget we've been kidnapped. I feel rather guilty for wishing everyone could just stay here. No one really wants to be here, after all.

[Anise nods absently.] Yeah, it really is easy to forget we're stuck here... And sometimes, this place isn't so bad, you know? There are a lot of nice people here, and we won't get to see them anymore, if we go home...

Yes, you're right... [Ion wouldn't get to see anyone again if he were to be sent back, but he isn't letting on that this is on his mind as he smiles.] It's probably best to just make the most of things while we're here, and... well, when we're sent back, we'd just have to accept that too.

[She quickly realizes that, and her head whips around to look at him, blinking. That - was a fair point, one she doesn't want to think about. Her smile falters for a second, but she decides not to mention it, if he doesn't. ... Instead she'll just take his hand and squeeze it gently.]

Yeah... yeah. You're right, Ion. There's not much we can do, but we should make the most of those that we can, right?

Right. [Ion squeezes her hand in return, perhaps even a little bit tighter.]

[He pauses for a moment.] ...so, you're sure you're all right? [He wasn't expecting an honest answer, but he was still just as concerned for her as he'd been moments before.]

Mm... Well, I'm fine now. ♥ [And she does mean that. She smiles up at Ion.]

It's a shame the Colonel's gone back, though. Now it's just you, me and Guy from our journey back home!

That's true. It seems as though more people have been leaving lately... ah, unless that's normal for Luceti. I haven't really been here long enough to tell.

It is normal! ... sort of, anyway. They never really give us a warning or a reason for when they send people back home. Sometimes they come back, though. And sometimes they even remember being here before!
