You poor thing! First off, don't buy anything expensive. The baby will out grow it way too fast, so unless you plan on this being the first of several, median price is better. The most important thing to think is 'is it safe?' Will it collapse or tip over. Then is it practical for your life style? Instead of worrying about moses basket or anything like that, get a good crib, maybe one that converts to a toddler bed. Then get a good baby monitor, one with several frequencies so you can personalize it. Don't laugh, my nieghbor's kept broadcasting on mine. Freaked me out hearing a baby cryig while watching mine sleeping until I realized I was picking up another monitor. Then this is important, put your baby in the crib to sleep whenever you are home. If she/he gets used to napping in the livingroom with people around, they won't want to sleep in their crib. As to the breast pump, electric is easier on your hand, you don't get cramps from squeezing the bulb. But some find the suction painful with the electric ones. I avoided pumping as much as possible, but I was a stay at home mom, so I was available for most feedings. Also, you don't need a huge diaper bag unless you are going out for hours at a time. A quick trip to the store, you only really need a couple of diapers, wipes and ointment. I kept an emergency kit in the car of a change of clothes and more diapers, but I never needed it until they were walking. Most important, do what works for you, not what 'they say' you need in magazines and on TV. This is your baby and you're the one having to do the work. Make it as easy as you can so you can enjoy your little darling. Beleive me, those endless nights and exhausted days seem to go on forever, but once they are over, you'll miss them........ probably as you are searching for your little runaway in the store or racing to the emergency room after they fall off their bicycle. It was so much easier when they stayed in one place..... j/k
