He is the angel with the scabbed wings

As some may remember, one of my gifts for Christmas was a pair of tickets to the play version of 'Sweeney Todd'. Well, last night was the night. It was so good! I'm biased toward the movie version, it being the first thing I knew of Sweeney Todd (and it has Johnny Depp...), I therefore prefer it, but there's just something about live theatre. The fellow who played Sweeney Todd has a much deeper singing voice than Johnny Depp, so it kind of threw me off. I'm used to a softer, mid- to high range voice and then when this guy started singing it was like: Boom! Baritone. On the flip side of that, the lady who played Mrs. Lovett had a harsher tone than Helena Bonham Carter. While I love HBC's Lovett, I think the harsher voice of the actress last night was very fitting. In fact, I feel that Mrs. Lovett was the stand out performance. It was neat getting more of the story and hearing the songs they left out of the movie. Even different versions some of them.
The whole experience was kind of neat actually, I was sitting there, watching the play, but the movie was running through my mind. ^^
There were a few moments that brought me right out of the experience though. I'm not sure if it's the case, but there were moments when it sounded like Toby said 'cool' when shown something by Mrs. Lovett. I'm pretty sure kids didn't say that back then...
Also, as it was only the second night of the production, there were a few instances where the actors forgot the words to the song. They'd still hum along to the tune or mumble, but it also had a tendency to jolt you out of the experience.

All said, it was fabulous.

Man, I hadn't been to a live theatre production since waaaaay back in grade 12, with the exception of a couple operas. Next on the agenda? I need to go enjoy the symphony, especially now that they have a pipe organ. :B

As of this morning, I have completely completed (O_o) 'Darksiders'. While I had actually finished the game a few days ago, I had a couple extra trophies to get for the platinum. That, I got this morning. While seemingly overlooked for the most part, I love this game. Again, probably due to my interest in the Four Horsemen, but the mechanics, pacing, control, all of it was done very well.
Of course, the fact the game was done by Joe Madureira helps too. He's one of my favourite comic book artists. :B Now, while I love his art, I'm not the biggest fan of his version of War. Yeah, obviously the thinking is that War's going to be a monster of a man(-ish creature... what exactly are the Horsemen anyway? Spirits? Higher Beings?), but this one looks like a walking suit of armor. Especially when you get the Abyssal Armor. But that's a trifle really, his voice and somber attitude make up for it. :B
Then, later on in the game, you get reunited with Ruin, his horse. XD I spent so much time just galloping around with him. Lol.
Once I got to the end though, I had a little freak out...
All the conspiracies during the game finally come to light and you learn the truth. War breaks free of the Council's hold and he is basically screwed 'cause he's going to have them chasing him, plus the forces of Heaven and Hell.
They're like: "You're going to fight this war all alone?"
And he replies, "No, not alone" and crushes the seventh seal, releasing his brothers. You see three coloured fireballs falling from the sky and then cut to blank screen and credits. *Flail* I want to see the others!!
Thus it has made me crave a sequel. It'd be neat if you could play as the other Horsemen. Or a game for each! XD

On the non-nerd side of things, I'm still dealing with muscle pain, but either I've gotten used to it again, or it's backing off a bit. My neck is still very stiff, shoulders too, but it's not too bad I guess. No more need for muscle relaxants anyway. I've been lifting weights a bit, so that's causing a burn in my arms, but it's the kind of burn that you know is good for you. ^^; Trying to work on range of motion exercises too for my left arm. I favoured it way too much while I had the PICC line in and then again during radiation since it got so fried. As such, I've lost quite a bit of motion in it. I can't extend it above my head anymore without feeling a very sharp pull in my bicep.

Then there's the work issue. ^^; Still looking. Haven't been having much luck, it's quite hard to break out of retail I find. Holding out hope that I'll hear from the hospital about that one job.

Und now, I think I shall go take Muppet for a walk, she's looking pretty bored.

Oh yeah! The trailer for 'The Losers' is out now!
