Tremble in fear for I have returned to spread my gloom about the city!
Or, you know, some such thing.
I'm actually not in a very gloomy mood at the moment, despite having been subjected to yet another CT scan. Bah. Hate.
Got back from Victoria bright and early yesterday morning and I had every intention of updating this little journal o' mine, but ended up spending the day with
jdkusanagi and fighting off sleep. ^^; It was a good visit though, of course.
Then, after sleeping in my awesome bed, I was up super early again 'cause of the appointment today. Cory took me to the Institute, where we got shuffled around from one waiting room to the next. He busied himself looking through magazines while I got stabbed with another needle (in my left wrist this time. Ow.), drank two huge cups of horrible chemical laced water and then lay on a hard plastic slab with my arms stretched out above my head. That last one doesn't seem so bad until you add in the fact my muscles are doing their weird seizing up thingie that they like to do a week after chemo and that since I broke my right collar bone I actually don't have full rotation in my right shoulder, making that position excruciating.
Fun times.
But its done with for now and I get to wait for the results. Again. Stupid waiting game.
Actually, speaking of waiting: while Cory and I were in the one waiting room, a nurse had mentioned something about a hostage taking downtown, so one of the patients changed the channel on the TV and we watched it all unfold. I know it's a really serious situation and peoples' lives were at stake, but I couldn't help cracking jokes with Cory over the whole thing. I mean, really, in our city? It's like watching a bunch of hicks trying to recreate what they see on CSI or something. I mean, I swear our police's mobile command unit was a Winnebago with 'POLICE' stamped across the front. Actually, I didn't even know we had a S.W.A.T. team.
I can understand where the rage with the WCB comes from though. They're sneaky and seem to never pay out claims. I couldn't help giggling though (as horrible as this is). Chances are, the gunman was injured in some way... you could totally tackle him... (Yeah, see that little hand basket over there? That's reserved for my trip downstairs).
I dunno, I just figure you gotta just laugh over something like that. Have fun with life where you can. That said though, I'm glad things got resolved peacefully and that no one was hurt.
Then I found out when I got home that the Doc phoned and apparently the radiation simulation that I did before my trip was a dud 'cause I apparently breathed when I wasn't supposed to and the picture didn't turn out. I don't understand why I can't use the results of the one I had today, but whatever, got another appointment on the 29th to get a retake.
So that's what's going on with the health side of things.
My trip to Victoria? Not too bad at all. I don't feel like going into detail right now just 'cause I'm tired, but all in all, it was definitely much needed. As I figured, most of my time was spent on my Grandma's couch, but I did manage to get out and see a bit of the city, including the gorgeous Butchard's Gardens. I'll throw some pictures on here eventually.
In the end it doesn't really matter if I enjoyed it I figure. This was more a trip for Mom. She was looking forward to it for so long and she finally got some time off work and away from dad and she could be the one looked after for a change. In that aspect, I'm super happy we went.
After all that fun at the Institute, Cory took me out for lunch and then we wandered all over the city. I've been trying to find a red hooded cloak/cape for my Halloween costume, but I've had very little luck. What I find is crap, and what isn't is lumped in with an entire costume that I don't need and that costs over $100. So, Cory gave me the idea of making my own and all the little fun things I can do with it... so we then went searching for fabric and patterns. XD I'm actually pretty excited. I get to make another one of my designs! And this time I don't have to pay anyone exorbitant amounts of money to get it done. It should be interesting though, 'cause I don't really know how to sew. Oh well, weekend project with Mom. :B
