I wish I had any idea of why certain mental things leave one physically exhausted and drained. I mean, obviously the brain is part of the body, and everything is connected. Still, beyond that I have no idea. Probably just as hard to answer as the question of why we need sleep and dreams to live.

So yeah, I'd recommend naps after such endeavors. Also good luck on your continuing journey.

The brain is an organ that uses an incredible amount of the body's resources - not just in terms of sugars and fats, but all sorts of neurochemicals which the body takes so much time and resources to produce, that you have to sleep and all but shut down your brain for 5-10 hours out of every 24 just so it can keep up.. When using lots of your brain lots of the time, you can burn as much energy as when you're jogging, and significantly more weird specialist molecules.

Interestingly, intelligent people's brains don't work nearly as hard to produce similar results to everyone else; either they're more efficient or their thought occurs elsewhere in the body- the gut is a good contender, as it has significant amounts of grey and white matter spliced through it, and has far more direct access to consumed nutrients. perhaps a bit of both?
