Yes, yes, I know I said I wouldn't post here anymore. And I won't, not about me anyway. However, thanks to sweiled who picked me off my bum and put me on my own two feet again, and the support system that is of gacktyougirl, gekka_no_neko, tarogirl, I am now back and translating. Of course, you do not have to read if you have a problem with my translation; you do not have to read if you don't like the intensive notes I tend to put on all my translations, and you do not have to read if all you intend to do is mock my Japanese. That being said, as with all translators, I have my rules.

Farewell [TRANSLATION]
The silver-coloured [crescent moon]1 [floated down]2 (on)to my thirsting heart
On this night without the moonlight, "Even by yourself, you can walk."
The gentleness and warmth [attached]3 to [those words]4 you gave me
Brings back a smile to my crying face, [looking down in sadness]5
When I feel sad, if I close my eyes
You are here right by my side
I said farewell [to not show my tears]6
You have always given me your gentle smiles
I will not forget [that warmth]7
Although my tears are flowing, I will be laughing
Even if there is no road ahead
I will show that I can spread my wings
The [large back]8 disappearing into the falling [drips]9 of the moon
[Shows]10 me the meaning of [walking onward]11 again
I will be able to continue walking and not look back
Because you are always here by my side
So that my tears will never fall again
I have decided I won't go back
Because this is the promise that we exchanged (on) that day

Notes:
[1] The word mikaduki is a representation of the new moon, which is usually crescent in shape, anyhow, so the crescent moon could also be used.
[2] This word is comprised of two sections, “mai” and “ochita”. Mai basically means to dance, and ochita means to drop, to fall or to come down. Adding them together, it isn’t hard to imagine that it’s something “floating down” while swirling with the wind.
[3] “soete” from “soeru” means to add, to affix or to attach. In this sense, the sentence is basically saying that there were gentleness and warmth with which those words were said, therefore, upon remembering those words, he also remembers the gentleness and warmth which came with it.
[4] This refers to the quoted words in the above sentence.
[5] “utsumuku” literally means to hang one’s head down in sadness.
[6] This sentence gives off a sense of bidding farewell, not because he wanted to, but bidding farewell so that the person he is singing of/to will depart quickly, and won’t see his tears afterwards.
[7] “That warmth” refers to the warmth given off with the gentle smiles.
[8] This is a hard part of the song to translate simply because you cannot make “large back” sound poetic nor beautiful. This basically conveys the feeling that the person is still close to you, as if you can reach out and feel them. If there were no “large back” added here, then you would feel as if the person is only disappearing in the distance, and not right in front of you. So, it is not that the person disappearing literally has a “large back”, but it is more of because the person is so close to you, their back seems “large”.
[9] Gackt used the word “shizuku” here, which is literally “water drops”. I’m not sure what image he is trying to give here, but it would seem as if the place is misty, and the water drops seem to be dripping from the moon.
[10] “oshiete” from the root “oshieru” has the meaning of: to teach, to tell, to show, to inform. Each of them could fit well in this context.
[11] Literally translated, this section of the sentence means “continuing to walk”, but by making it “walking onward”, it now flows more smoothly.
[12] In this part, he is literally saying “if my tears float up”, which is the same as tearing up, as your tears well up as if it floated up from nowhere.
[13] The basic meaning of this is that the rain will remove his tears.
[14] I’m going to assume that in this part, he is saying that he is “over” the person. Not in a sense which he isn’t going to think about the person anymore, but in a sense where he is “over” the person’s death. He still loves and thinks about the person deeply, but isn’t going to dwell upon the person’s death anymore.
