I heard about this guy on Morning Edition this morning. He creates art that reveals secrets of the natural world. Some of the coolest exhibits at the Exploritorium were designed by him. (On the Morning Edition page, you can view a gallery of some of his exhibits, with links to RealAudio in which he explains each piece.)

Several years ago, I came across a web site for an artist. He was creating big paintings on sheets of wood which he then cut in 2-foot squares and sold individually for a nominal price. I bought two.
