Dear Ben Cross (Letter 39)

Dear Ben,

How'd your day go?  Good?  Great!

My day went well.  Work was very slow.  I'm a bit concerned but that's the industry for you.  What can you do?

Guess where I went today?  Rapier practice!  It was awesome.  I do get frustrated at times.  It's because I always want to be perfect the first time.  Not going to happen I'm afraid.  Yet I still want it to be that way.  When will I learn?

At fight practice I was talking to a fellow gamer who I've LARPed with.  He filled me with terror about the game in Los Angeles.  Now before you say it Ben, I know that LARPers probably don't deserve to breathe the same air as you.  But you know, I care about doing a good job.  I care about not looking silly in front of a whole group of people.  Just saying.  Anyway a solution was reached and once I get my character I'm going through a dry run with the character with a couple of friends.  Just so I can step into it at game and not look like I just stepped into it.  That's right, a rehearsal.

Another thing will be the flight.  Terrified of flying.  Stresses me out.  Clearly I am going and clearly I am going by plane.  I just have to remind myself that it's only 3 hours.  Only 3 hours and I'll be on the ground.  Blessed, sweet ground.  This and there's still a month to go.  A month and a half to be more accurate.

And I'm craving garlic.  This happens from time to time.  Right now a lovely piece of garlic bread would be super super awesome.  Is any forthcoming?  Nope. :)

I was woken up this morning at 4 am by thunder and lightening.  The thunder was quite loud and I was a tiny bit frightened by it.  My imaginary boyfriend had left already as he usually does when I'm asleep.  I wish he would hang around longer.  Sometimes he doesn't arrive when I want him to be there.  Usually he's not there when I'm a bit scared or actually frightened.  Then I'm on my own.  This is probably a good thing.

Right now there's a storm out but it hasn't made it any cooler in here.  As I drove home from practice the sky was grey, the rain was pouring down, the thunder was again loud enough to be disturbing and the lightning flashed across the sky in lovely forked patterns.  And still no relief from the heat.  We need wind.  One more month of summer and the cooler weather will come.  Thank goodness!

Anyway, I thought I'd write.  Sleep well and peacefully.

Gail
