April - June: Navy Life

I took a few pictures here and there before Terry left on his summer deployment earlier this year. A small glimpse of what Terry had to look at 24/7 over the summer.

Terry always seem to have Duty the day before he left. So I would visit him on the ship seeing as it would be a while before he was back and all.

Above --that's our grocery cart parked next to one of the anchor chains on the pier.

Home Sweet Home for our Sailors many months out of the year. You think your job is bad? Scoff. (Unless you're deployed in the Middle east. You win!)

Anyway, to get on the ship you go through security twice. I've got to get a visitors badge and all. I kinda just follow behind Terry, watch his ritual to get on the ship, and then put my bags through an x-ray machine before walking through a metal detector.

In the Hangor Bay you're greeted with aircraft, bomb racks and fuel tanks! But this isn't usually there --only when they're out to sea or right before, of course.

SH-60 Seahawk.

A weather-guesser! I mean... E-2 Hawkeye.

Fuel tanks.

Terry's shop. Well, part of it... but the rest doesn't look much different. That is some of the systems he works with... did you figure out what he/or it does yet? Lol.

Besides looking complicated these machines make a lot of noise. You def use "outside" voices when talking in his shop. And yes, Terry's hearing is abysmal.

Terry's desk. I don't know, he's rocking three computer screens. Doesn't look too bad...

And of course every office needs a fridge and Chain of Command reminder! Why does the President not have a frame?

I hope you're fit, because this is what Sailors have to climb up and down everyday. Stairs are for wimps. Usually a couple are trying to do it at the same time. Imagine if there was an emergency? Pile up!

But besides the Galley food (that we didn't even bother taking a pic of, you can only imagine), the sleeping arrangements are the worst. Three high, and barely enough room to turn over in your sleep. Could you handle it?

Not me!

We love you even more, Terry, for putting up with all of it! Kurou and I, that is.

Off to Michigan in my next update!
