October 17th: Our Humble Home~

Oct 17, 2009 20:48

Here's a little look of on base housing in Yokosuka. We live in one of the 9 nine-story towers with two bedrooms in each unit. There are buildings with more rooms, plus town houses, but since it's just us two we're not complaining for something bigger!

The picture above is a pic of almost the whole base. As you can see Navy and community is clustered very close together. But it works, it's nice and it's safe. The red star marks our tower.

The tower we live in is one of the oldest, I think from around the '40s. We live in the middle of a grouping of towers. Ichiban, Niban and Sanban Towers. Niban Tower ("number two" tower) being where we live, of course.

Our front entrance, or well, just door. Ha ha. And a wagon Terry salvaged from downstairs. Who throws away a Radio Flyer? D:

The kitchen is by far the best part of the house. It's bigger than anything we have had even know we've lived in bigger places. We also have a huge walk in pantry. My only complaint is there is no ice machine. Poor me.

The living/dinning room. This is a little small for us so we're cluttered. But we spend most of our time here seeing as my computer is hooked up to the TV at the moment. Ha ha.

Off to the side of the living/dinning room we have a HUGE patio area. I just wish I had furniture for out there but that's kinda hard to buy in Japan.

As you can see we have a lovely view of the Middle School, Sanban Tower and a rock. Lol. (Can you make out my wee blue car in the parking lot?)

If we lived farther up in the tower (we're on the third floor) and on the other side, we would of had a view of this. That is Yokohama you can see off in the distance. UGH NOT FAIR.

Oh, hey, a full laundry room. Again. No complaints.

And then our wee bedroom. I hate it. I can't even fit both night stands on either side of the bed. But, they warned us about this before moving. But hey, my new furniture looks nice, right? And I put it together! *pats self on back*

As you can also see... I have no space for clothes. Clutter, clutter, clutter.

We also have a second bedroom that is no shape to be photographed. It's used as storage at the moment, ha ha. This year it will hopefully be transformed into a computer/guest room. :)

Think you could handle Military life? Not so bad, right?

So next time I'll post pictures of around the base, the ships, etc. :)

P.S. COME VISIT. You can stay with us (that red couch is a pullout, lol).
