America and Japan mix.
We went to
Tiger in Yokosuka that specializes in
Yakiniku cooked over charcoal, the traditional way and supposedly better way.
They had their special Tiger beef to choose from plus many other things to grill like seafood, pork, chicken and vegetables. And of course Tiger beer (from Singapore). We chose a little bit of everything.
They bring the charcoal, already hot, to you after you sit down. You can see the grill above in the black pot.
In the top picture in the background is the oven where they first heat up the charcoal (or possibly even start with wood).
This was beef sashimi (and daikon kimchi). The beef was very marbled and it was so, so good. The texture was like raw salmon and melted like butter. YUM!
Tiger was so much better than the other Yakiniku place we've been to. The selection was awesome, they had an English menu and English speaking staff because they're very base friendly. Nicer place and more pricey but totally worth it. We'll take you here when you come to visit!
The next day we were out around base and the Sakura were almost in full bloom. Sadly they only last for about ten days.
American military meets a prized Japanese natural event.
Remember this picture and how quiet and pretty it looks. You'll see a big difference in the same area in the next post! :D
