I haven't seen The Young Riders in forever. God, I used to love that show, years and years ago. I've never read anything (fanfic that is) outside of Supernatural, but it's you so I decided I had to read it. Plus I used to have a big old crush on Jimmy. I really enjoyed it. Big surprise. I don't remember any of the episodes really well anymore, but you did a great job, as always. I liked the interaction between Jimmy and Kid, how both were hurting and feeling like they didn't belong. And getting to see what Ike was thinking was really great. And when I read this, I remembered why I always liked Emma's character. She's awesome (to use my son's favorite word at the moment). I liked Buck and Ike a lot. And Kid and Cody too. But I never like Lou, which is really silly since the show started when I was 8 and ended when I was 11, and I remember not liking her. So, maybe I watched the show on reruns? Either way, she bugged me and I don't recall why. Weird huh?

Hi there! I'm so happy to see you AND to hear that you enjoyed reading this. :) I loved this show as well (obviously) -- not as much as SPN, but then, will ANYTHING compare to SPN??

I was always a HUGE fan of Kid, Ike, and Cody -- but Kid mostly. :) And you're right, Emma was fantastic. I loved that she and Sam got together, but it made me sad, too, because that meant she left the station. Rachel was okay, but she was no Emma.

And, no, it's not weird that you didn't like Lou. I didn't care for her much either. :) Whichis why she played such a small part in this fic. Hee.

Thanks so much for reading and taking time to review!

Oh good, I thought maybe I was the only one who didn't like Lou. Feel free to send her away in any future fics as well. And I'm not sure if any show will ever measure up to SPN. No other show has ever compelled me to brave the TWoP site and other internet sites to find fanfic. I didn't even know about fanfic until SPN.

What a great surprise to find a "Young Riders" fanfic!! Now I'm really glad to be "stalking" your posts!!
I loved the Young Riders and was a big fan of Kid. Also of Kid & Katie. And of Hurt!Kid. Can you guess that this story is pretty much what I have been looking for for a long time!!!
Thanks you sooooo very much!
And feel free to go back to that fandom when ever you feel like it (as long as you get Kid hurt ^^ )

Squee!! I have a stalker! How awesome. :) Thanks so much for reading and reviewing -- I'm thrilled that you liked this. I was a HUGE Kid fan, too. I mean, I liked them all in different ways, but Kid always had this attractive air of mystery about him -- the fact that he had no real name, for starters, his troubled childhood, Southern roots on the cusp of the Civil War... yeah, he was really intriguing. :)

Thanks so much for the encouragement, and it's possible that I will write another when the muse hits. I can guarantee you that it'll be Kid amongst the wounded. :)

Editing because I think I let too much of my own questions pop in here.So it seems to me that someone I know needs a little pick-me-up tonight. I'm here to deliver. I've got the vino tonight; and the closed eyes, finger on the map kind of deal led me here for a reread. I promise to keep it short. Constructive and hopefully helpful, but short ( ... )

Ha! You're so funny. Well, I still have the email from your original reply, so I'm going to still reply to some of the things you cut out just because I want you to know what I'm thinking or thought when I wrote this. :)

Remember, I'm saying all of this out of love and wanting to see you get better. Okay? (Don't get defensive before you read what I have to say. It's all helpful, not mean. You know I don't have a mean bone in my body. ) Constructive doesn't equal that you've done something wrong.

First, I'm sorry I made you feel that you had to say this. I promise I won't bite you for trying to help me. I may not always agree with what you say, but I always love that you try. Always, okay? So, thank you for taking the time and making the effort.

First, I'll gush because someone needs to gush over you today. I loved this.Thank you! :) For saying both things. It's been a rough week. Well, couple of weeks. And I'm tired. And my 'bank' is empty. And I did need to be gushed over. So thank you ( ... )

Next time, I want to see you do something truly different. See if you can write these characters without having to hurt someone. Can you tell their story without pain having to be the only way they can have these profound realizations about family and friends? Is there no other way for people to realize what they mean to each other without one of them having to be on their deathbed? Can you leave that comfort zone you've built for yourself?

It's a fair question. The answer to leaving the comfort zone, right now anyway, is both yes and no.

In my stories -- the ones I've written for the Flash Fiction contest and the Kansas Writers contest -- there's no physical hurt. There's pain because in my life, through my eyes, lessons have always been learned through some form of pain. And that's reflected in my writing. But it's not always physical. If you're really bored and would like to see this "different" I speak of, check out my blog: http:// ( ... )
