Last night I dozed off while listening to the election coverage. I woke up a little after 11:00 to see the video of the many celebrations around the counry of Obama's victory. I smiled turning the TV off and snuggled back up to Mandy to go to sleep.
This morning she was up before me to see the results and when I got up we watched Obama's speech together. We both had tears in our eyes. How amazing was it to hear him mention "gay" and "native american", "dis-abled", so many things that are never said. We both felt like we were a part of history and we are. All of us are.
I have more hope as a US citizen than I had even yesterday morning. I know the changes won't happen overnight. As President-Elect Obama said...it might not even happen in one term. But it feels like there is actually the possibility of change...for the better...for the first time in a long time.
