As the helicopter settled to the ground, the passenger - a woman - jumped out. Carrying a long bundle slung over her shoulder, she walked to the police cars.

"Dr. Takashima?" the sandy-haired man in the suit said as she approached. "Lieutenant Jim Cataverde, major crimes." He gestured to the dock-front warehouse in the mostly-decommissioned Navy Yards. "We're pretty sure they're in there."

Eiko nodded, her face almost blank. "My partner's at home with our other child; you have the whole story?"

Lt. Cataverde nodded. "I'm surprised that this could happen. Or would. Your company's supposed to be great."

"Money makes people stupid. The kidnapper was on staff two weeks before grabbing her from childcare. I thought it would make things easier, my partner taking care of a five-month-old herself and Amelia here. I'm very disappointed in Ms. Arkadajian."

I'm also pissed at myself for disabling the remote bounce, but I can't have Amelia teleporting away - too many questions.

"We have someone from hostage negotiation coming-"

"No. I'll handle this."

"I'm not sure that's a good idea... what is THAT?" Eiko had unslung the long package from her back and removed the outer case of fabric, revealing a five-foot-long gun, with what appeared to be a triple barrel on a rotater mount.

"This is what I like to call Plan B." Indeed, marked on each barrel was the words 'Plan B'. She re-slung it so that she could hold it like a minigun, pulled the goggles she wore down over her eyes, and moved forwards. When she got thirty feet away, she angled it upwards and pulled the trigger. The barrels spun, and then each of them fired some kind of energy that made the air glow and left a howl in the air. The beams went into the warehouse about ten feet up, and emerged out the other side about twenty feet off the ground. Part of the wall softened and flopped downwards, and she marched straight inside.

"Attention," she shouted. "That was Plan B. You can tell it was plan B because you could see it through your eyelids. Now you are going to surrender and give me back my daughter or I will find out what this triple heavy maser does to human flesh and bone under field conditions. I assure you of two things: one, my daughter will not be harmed even if I wave this thing around without restraint, and two, your last thought will be how delicious you smell when microwaved. Three. Two. One."

"WAIT, WAIT, STOP!" Two pistols slid across the floor towards her, and three people were getting themselves face down on the floor.

As the police followed her in, she put the THM on a table, then went to the office chair her daughter was tied to. "Mommy!" she said, then raised her hands. "up."

Eiko cut the ropes and picked up her daughter. Lt. Cataverde looked at her, an expression between scared and bemused on his face. "You are a dangerous woman, Dr. Takashima."

"Mommy loves Amelia," Amelia informed him seriously.

"Yes," Eiko said, "any anyone who thinks that's a good reason to cause problems is going to have a terrible day." She shook her head. "All that for ten million dollars. What a waste."
