my kuku hayate obsess... collection, let me show you it
Of the two or three new-ish mangaka I've been fangirling a heck of a lot lately, Kuku Hayate is the least well-known. She's had some oneshots published in Be x Boy and the new B-Boy anthology series, Phoenix, but there's not much of a fandom for her in the west (yet). Kuku-sensei's art reminds me a bit of Naono Bohra's and she has a few problems with perspective, but there's a lot of potential. Besides, her stories are really cute (if a little conventional) ♥
So here are four oneshots by Kuku Hayate in handy zips for your reading pleasure, scanned by yours truly. They're in Japanese, and mostly lack furigana, so if your Moonspeak-fu is particularly weak, just, uh, enjoy the art? 8D
Ayashi no Kimi no Koiwazurai (published in Be x Boy Gold 04/07, 8 pages) || Story: Two Kitsune statues guarding a secluded shrine try to get some nookie, but a passing pilgrim interrupts them :'D This was the first (mini) oneshot I read, and it completely stole my heart.
Cheeping (published in B-Boy Phoenix 05 Bishonure [Soaking Wet] Tokushuu 03/07, 32 pages) || Story: A shy model boy breaks his leg, so a nearby bentou stall keeper comes over to help him out. Features a soaked seme and some towel covered kissing that's just way too sweet plus hot porn.
Tsuyu to Kiyu (published in B-Boy Phoenix 06 Gijinka [Anthropomorphic Characters] Tokushuu 05/07, 32 pages) || Story: A man and a dragon god fall in love with each other after some hot sex in the bushes. The ending is incredibly beautiful and bittersweet D: (this is probably my favorite of Kuku-sensei's works, if only because of those last few pages)
Screwed (published in B-Boy Phoenix 07 Toshi no Sa [Age Difference] Tokushuu 07/07, 16 pages) || Story: A young employee at a bar is hopelessly in love with his older co-worker, who then proceeds to give him a hands-on demonstration on how to properly shake a cocktail shaker >3 The guys are really cute and the uke blushes a lot ♥ *has a huge thing for age difference stories*
