Training
I've really been learning a lot of stuff up at the county. It's a ton of stuff...kind of overwhelming. Yesterday got kind of busy and I was answering phones while letting people in and out, meanwhile Amber (my training officer) was taking 911 calls. I was thinking...do they seriously expect me to handle all this all at the same time all by myself?! But Amber assured me that after awhile I will get into my own groove and I'll be able to handle it. I sure hope so. Starting next week they are putting me on the radio to do traffic stops so...I hope that goes well. My biggest fear right now is actually understanding what the deputies are saying and correctly getting the information back to them using all those stupid ten codes. Amber said that at first the deputies will give me a real hard time, sort of an initiation...GREAT. I'm really looking forward to that!
In other news my 4th of July went well. I got paid time and a half at work! Then after work I stopped by Dr. Young's and he wrote me a big check for $100 for babysitting his kids and his cat. Then I went home and took a nap. I waited around for Renee to call me since she said she was coming to town and would call, but she never did....big shock there. So Michelle called me and said her and Sara were heading out to the park and wanted to know if I wanted to go so I said sure. The fireworks were ok...not all that great, but ok. It is J'ville after all. It was sorta cool to see the officers at the park and know who they are. Lisa is having a huge pool party this weekend and inviting everyone from the county so I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better.
Today I'm going to hop in the shower, go get some lunch and then go to work at 3 til 11pm. I'm getting LEADS certified tonight. Pretty cool, huh? ;-) Actually I think I'm watching a video and then taking a test. Then probably some more entering of warrants and orders of protection...along with answering phones and manning the doors and learning whatever stuff Amber has for me to learn tonight. Oh well, it keeps me busy and it's so much better then not having a job at all!
