In between scurrying around to finish today's massive to-do list, I peeked at Beyond and discovered the funniest story I've read in a long time. I'm running late and don't have time to leave it the feedback it deserves at the moment, but a quick rec I can do:

Lord Vader's LimpetAnd the pertinent part of the A/N: For explanation’s sake: this is ( Read more... )

That was AMAZING. Thank you so much for sharing, and here's to hoping it becomes a series.

Sidenote: Do you think Mara had a Coruscanti accent? For some reason she never has in my head.

Wouldn't that be awesome? :D

I always have pictured Mara as having a Coruscanti accent, myself. She was raised there, and in the highest echelons of society, too. I'm sure she can alter her accent when she wants (or she'd have had issues with undercover stuff), but I'd bet the Coruscanti one is her natural way of speaking.

I guess I started reading her before I realized what a Coruscanti accent was or what it meant. I guess I'm going to have to start hearing her as the DeWitt woman who's in charge of the Dollhouse in order to relearn her voice.

I rarely "hear" her voice at all unless someone specifies the accent. But then, I almost never see or hear characters. I don't know why. A failed synaptic connection somewhere, I guess. :p But I do assume she has the accent. *shrug*

The "hearing" thing is a tricked I developed for myself in high school. I could never read plays and fully comprehend what was going on. So on the first day of studying them, I would go down the list of characters and assign familiar voices to each one. For instance, I read Macbeth with the voices of the cast of The West Wing in my head. Just helped me get a better feel for what was going on and pay better attention to the words. I don't always do it for reading fiction, but sometimes.

Was that not the FUNNIEST story? I can't remember when I first read it, but I hadn't laughed out loud reading a fan fic in a loooong time. :D Not many people can write Vader in a humor fic, but that author nailed it!

Oh gods. I don't read a lot of humor fic because it's usually OC and "this really shouldn't be happening to someone so dignified!" usually kicks in hard enough to make me stop, but this! "Dignified" hit hard and fast but it was also happening to the character, and he was so in-character(with the addition of a lot of restraint) that I had to keep reading, and I'm glad I did.

Thanks.
