So, I've always thought that if I ever get married, it would be a nice subtle nod to Dylan fandom to have the wedding on May 5 ("I married Isis on the fifth day of May" - 'Isis'). Then I started thinking - there have been theme weddings for just about everything. Why not Dylan songs? The first dance would have to be 'Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands' - wildly romantic, chock-full of complex Dylanesque metaphors that few will understand, and it's eleven minutes long. That's eleven minutes where the guests would have to stand politely whilst thinking, "This couple is way weirder than I'd thought." Which amuses me no end. :D The name cards at the table could be in the form of passports painted brown ('Desolation Row'), the centerpieces could involve poems by Verlaine and Rimbaud ('You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go'), and instead of a receiving line, my husband and I could go around handing people nickels and dimes and asking them if they're having a good time ('Maggie's Farm'). And since I couldn't care less about wearing a traditional wedding gown anyway, I could find some other outfit to wear - but top it off with a leopard print pillbox hat ('Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat')!

I am thoroughly tickled by this. You know how they say every little girl dreams of her wedding? Yeah, well, I was the little girl who warned her mother that I'd have a large traditional wedding over my dead body. (My parents, who themselves got married at the courthouse, are just fine with that. I love my parents.) But this is almost enough to make an actual wedding worth it. :D Assuming, of course, that I ever find anyone as crazy as I am. :p

In case anyone missed it, I found some nifty pics of the moon/Venus/Jupiter conjunction:

Sky & Telescope.com pic (from someone in Tucson!)

Edit: Okay, apparently I copied the Astronomy.com address into the Sky & Telescope.com link. But I already closed the S&T window and I need to go to bed, so I'll try to fix it tomorrow. :p

And here is a comic that I might only think is neat because I've been reading Wil Wheaton's blog, or maybe because my sense of Things That Are Cool is improving (ONE CAN HOPE): Tweroes and Twillains

And just to close out the entry on a suitably weird note, here is a picture of my lovely niece doing her Popeye imitation:

Love ya, Rachael. You do our family legacy proud. <3

And now I must try to go to sleep, for I must be up in four hours. Phooey. :p
