Weekend Round-Up:
TV Gone Mad!

This weekend saw the finale of Torchwood Series 2 and the premiere of both Doctor Who Series 4 and Battlestar Galactica Season 4. I was in geek-gasm heaven.

SPOILERS

Torchwood!

Wow! Toshiko's death was done AWESOMELY in my opinion. Sure she was my favourite character and sure they didn't write anything good for her until this season, but hot DAMN is Naoko good. In Doctor Who people leave because they fall in love and in Torchwood they die; I'm not upset that she's gone because her death amazed me.

Rumour has it, however, that Owen will be back again, that he's signed on for next season. WTF. The idea to make him a living corpse was idiotic, and unless he's going to get a new, living body that looks exactly like his old one OR his connection to the Weaviles results in an evil Weavile-being taking over and resuscitating Owen's body, THEN I will never forgive Burn for signing on for series 3. The writers already have my evil eye for writing NOTHING for Martha and engaging in such a silly and impractical set of rules for their "Dead Man Walking." Actors cannot wear bandages on their hands EVERY F-ING DAY.

The other disturbing rumour is that there will be little to no Jack next season! Torchwood sans Jack is like peanut butter and jam without the peanut butter: it better be on Doctor Who, or I'm not eating it!

The above two were told to me in SUMS today, but this rumour site gave me hope and fear about the outcome of the series 3 casting situation.

Doctor Who

Donna Noble. Played by Catherine Tate. A.K.A. The Catherine Tate Show crossed with Doctor Who.

I like it. It's fun, it's funny, it's a whole bunch of kooky. The promise of romance when Rose returns and ass-kicking-brilliance when Martha hooks up with the Doctor and Donna makes me willing to sit back and enjoy the ride, but only time will tell if this new 'Best Buds!' formula will be able to support itself.

If the pilot is anything to judge by, we're looking at a series of madcap adventures with un-threatening beasties as Donna and the Doctor have intersecting, but not co-linear, journeys about time and space. And that can get dangerously 2-D.

Doctor Who should be camp, but not ALL camp ALL the time; tread carefully, D&D.

Battlestar
I hated the cliff hanger! I've never watched an episode of BSG without being able to see the next episode at my leisure. This one-episode-a-week system is crap. Wake me up when the season is ending; I'll start watching then.

Rick Mercer's "This Hour has 22 Minutes" pseudonym was "J.B. Dickson." Was that man EVER in the closet?
