poisonkitty had perhaps the best and most balanced advice on combating burnout. One element of the advice was specific to my profession: software guys need physical projects.

That's a really cool project. Have you considered hooking up an X-10 remote control to your cabinet to control lighting and other misc stuff?

An X10 setup would free up some cabinet space quite nicely; it is something I had not considered before. As it stands, just about every bank of lights has wires running to the rightmost cabinet, which has created quite a mess.

I'm planning to move to a different place, so this upgrade will be coming afterwards..
