You know how sometimes I say that watching this show is an exercise in frustration?
YEAH.
There were only two bright spots in today's episode: Henry and Carly.
From the top:
Henry and Barbara decide they're going to try to make each other jealous (and they now join the ranks of petty twelve-year-olds with Lily) by parading their dates in front of one another. Henry and Vienna plan a romantic evening with champagne and oysters, while Barbara ropes Craig into sitting down and having a little meeting with her in front of Henry at the Lakeview. Henry and Vienna beat a path to his door to get nekkid, while Craig sits and suspects Barbara of stalkery (okay, that's not a word, but you know what I mean :-P), because someone's been rifling through his files in his room and (after eliminating Johnny as a suspect) he has no idea who. Barbara is completely unaware of this fact, however, and she flirts her pretty little behind off as much as she is able.
So Henry and Vienna are getting hot and heavy under the sheets when suddenly Henry realizes that he's not exactly performing up to par. Vienna's all, "Don't you love me anymore?" and he assures her that he does, but his Mr. Happy does not comply. So Henry chalks it up to "stage fright" because Vienna's left him so many times before, and this has apparently made him nervous. Of course, the REAL reason why Henry can't bonk Vienna is because he's HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH BARBARA. And can't stop thinking about her.
So after Vienna screeches at him about how sorry she is for ever coming back to see Henry, she grabs her stuff and departs rather quickly. Meanwhile, Barbara has gone back to Fashions to reclaim that red dress that Henry had bought her (and she had since returned). Barbara shows back up at Henry's room, his eyes fall out of his head because she's fricking gorgeous (especially in that dress), and Henry ends up following her back to her room (like a puppy! LOL. So cute) and they jump on one another and have it out. :-) YAY!
Then, of course, Vienna calls to apologize and asks to see Henry. And he, of course, agrees, at Barbara's urging. Henry tells Barbara that she's an amazing woman, they kiss, and he leaves.
ARGH. FRIGGING BARBARA AND HENRY. WILL YOU PLEASE JUST FRICKING BE TOGETHER ALREADY. They're totally head over heels for each other!
So I say that Henry is one of the bright spots of today's episode, because he went to Barbara just when I wanted him to, and they ONCE AGAIN confirmed their feelings for each other (albeit strictly physically, lol). So that made me happy.
Oh, and also...Barbara's nightmare about being an old woman at Al's and having Henry and Vienna have to serve her was FRIGGING HILARIOUS. OMG, so damn funny. :-) I'm really starting to love Barbara. I love how she's the only character who has her own Mirror, mirror, on the wall... scenes. :-P
So then the rest of the episode? Jack and Dusty EPIC PISSING CONTEST. *gasp, faint, scream, etc* Seriously, somebody better throw the two of them a life preserver, before they drown in the sea of too much testosterone.
But! Carly was all *whipcrack* with the two of them, like, "WILL THE TWO OF YOU SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP FOR FIVE SECONDS?! GOD!" and she took better care of Janet than either one of them did.
I'm not understanding Jack, though. I get that he wants to take care of the baby, but he's being more possessive over Janet than anything else. I guess that makes sense, since the baby isn't quite its own person yet, but I would have thought that Jack would have the decency and maturity to step back and let Janet and Dusty have their privacy. Janet's not going to lie to Jack about what's going on with the baby, so he doesn't have to be all up in her business all the time. If there was a problem, Janet would let him know. He needs to step back and let Dusty do his job.
And poor Carly. She's like...fourth wheel in this whole thing. Nobody's worrying about her. Everyone's all in a tizzy over Janet because she's pregnant. But she's pregnant, not deathly ill. She's not incapacitated, just on bed-rest. So Jack...please take care of Carly! This is harder on her than you realize. (Btw, I could have lived without Jack's references to how many surfaces in Carly's living room they've previously "macked out" on. Yeah...)
The scene when Carly went to visit Craig and he laughed over the situation was really funny. I'm glad Carly was able to get away and focus on business for a while, instead of having to referee the feud between Tweedledee and Tweedledum at home. It's really a shame that Craig's a snake and is wheedling the funds right out from under Carly. She's gonna blow a gasket when she finds out.
And tomorrow is more of this! Henry/Barbara ridiculousness (with a suspicious Craig on the side), and Jack/Carly/Janet/Dusty/blah blah/ugh/kill me/when are the boys going to be on again/drama. Man alive. I hope Henry and Barbara resolve their situation soon. It would be so great to see the two of them together and public and soppy sweet and lovey-dovey. I needs me some vicarious romance, you two! So let's bring it, please!
And oh yeah...I'm losing my taste for Vienna. I don't know if it's this current storyline - and the fact that Barbara has grown on me so much - but Vienna seems to get a little more shallow with her affections every day. Her love is conditional with Henry, I feel. She's loving someone who does not exist, and Henry needs to tell her this ASAP, before things get worse. And then he and Barbara can ride off into the sunset. :-)
