Okay, let me get this out of the way. My Liberty-hate skyrocketed today. I think y'all can figure it out. I won't go into it because I know it'll cause a fight.

As for the rest of the episode.

Faith continues to annoy me. I have actually not liked her since they SORASed her (when she was still little at the vow renewal, she was uber-cute). I do think the eating disorder storyline was excellent, but it really didn't make me like Faith. Especially with how she treated Luke. Yes, yes, I know that's tyical; I watched enough eating disorder videos in middle school to know. It's just that she's hasn't really done much to redeem herself. Her selective memory is bothering me too...hell, Holden had a full-blown affair with Carly just last year.

Damian flip-flopping between Meg and Lily, while soapy, is also beginning to get old. I'm reminded of mike_smith's musing on Snape/Lily...

I'm sure plenty of fangirls find this ever so romantic, but let's put this into perspective, shall we? The term "pussy-whipped" is used to refer to a guy who's hopelessly controlled by his wife/girlfriend/whatever. It's often used in exaggeration; there's men out there who think if you take out the trash because your wife asked you to, you're a P-whipped loser. Now, Lily was never Snape's girlfriend. He might have had an opening at one point, but that's it. When Milhouse makes an idiot out of himself over Lisa Simpson, that's Snape. And by 1976, Lily wasn't even his friend, let alone romantically interested in him. By 1980 she was married to Snape's worst enemy and pregnant with his kid. By 1981 she was dead. By 1998, she's a bunch of dust and bones, and her house is a historical monument, and Snape is still making patronuses that look like hers, and looking into her son's eyes to remember her, and basically letting her posthumously drag him along by the nuts. Never once does it occur to him that maybe he may have wasted his life on the memory of a dead woman who never loved him and never would. It goes beyond pathetic, into some new realm where there aren't words to describe it. Again, from a plotting standpoint, it fits like a glove, but it's still a sad, sick, unpalatable glove we got here.

Take out certain plotting elements (f'rinstance, Lily's not dead, and she did love Damian at one point) and it works. I know nobody ever moves on in a soap, but it might be nice to have it happen. It's like those people who want Noah to cheat on Luke because "It's a soap!" Why, so they can be unlikeable tools like everyone else?

Speaking of unlikeable tools...I actually found myself lightening up on Meg a bit today. I mean, the lady has a point. And she had the good grace to feel ashamed of herself for getting snitty at the funeral five million times. Though according to the spoilers, she's got nothing to actually be ashamed of...

Grr. Damian and Lily make good friends. Damian and Meg make a good couple. Please TPTB to be remembering it.

Down in Kentucky, Maeve was rocking that shirt she had on today. I like how they're portraying the relationship between her and Eb; the whole "What'd you swear in front of that preacher" sequence REALLY gives you a good sense of what life has been like for Maeve, without portraying full-blown abuse. Not that I'm against the truth of abusive relationships being portrayed, but when a soap goes all the way, they tend to ham it up and deaden the emotional impact. It piques interest when the portrayal is subtle. Kudos for that, TPTB.

Rosanna smacking Craig with the door was lolarious. I actually laughed out loud at that. Points for mentioning Jennifer today, too; I always like it when soaps acknowledge the past, especially characters who died.
