Hurricane Sandy check-in!
Hi friends!
Just wanted to drop a quick note saying that me, Honey, and the rest of our family are all safe from Sandy! We're about 20 minutes inland from the Atlantic, but nothing too huge happened, thankfully. We had no power for the majority of yesterday, but it's back now, and we only have some minor tree damage outside. Nothing that my dad can't fix. :) We lucked out, big-time!
Unfortunately, the boardwalk by my house - Seaside Heights, NJ - did not fare so well. Both Casino Pier and Funtown Pier suffered extensive damage. One of the roller coasters is basically sitting in the ocean right now, with half the pier gone. We were also hearing that some of the houses in Seaside were sitting in the middle of the streets, and the bridge leading there had a boat stuck on it. Not to mention all the flooding on the roadways leading in. Yikes!
Hopefully the repair crews will be able to get out there soon! They've probably already started trying to fix things, actually. I hope everyone on my f-list who was in the same boat as me is doing well! My thoughts are with you!
