Not thrilled

Second Sunday in a row of running out of work an hour or two early, leading to my second week in a row of spending my first couple of shifts staying late trying to claw back the lost hours before I could start adding any overtime to my paycheck. This morning was the first time this week I could have gotten any overtime -- and there was enough work left to do to justify staying late to my supervisor.

Half an hour before the end of my shift I assessed the amount of work left, looked around for the supervisors -- both gone, off course -- and texted mine asking for permission to stay. I got back a yes -- an hour later, being half an hour past the end of my shift and -- more importantly -- past the time I'd given up on her reply and clocked out and gone home.

So this is why I hate hate hate that we're still having to do this bullshit of requesting permission for overtime, since this isn't the first time I haven't gotten the permission until after giving up on it and leaving. Also there's been a time or two where I was told no, there wasn't enough work left to justify letting me pick up a little extra time on my check. (I especially resent it on the week where I was told surely I'd have more opportunities to pick up extra time later, and then had several short shifts later that week.)

Counting down the months till the car is paid off (the first week of July) and frees up $400 a month from my budget. Then I focus on getting the emergency card paid off (which I should have done by the end of the summer, since it's just a $1000 limit), and then I'm down to just paying off the one big card...
