I suppose I can post the videos I made recently of my AVR video project. They're not much to look at, particularly since I have a hard time filming it without the picture looking overexposed (which it still does a little even in these, because the TV image has crisp edges). Some time last night while I was trying to go to sleep I got an idea in my head, and then ended up tossing it around for at least a couple of hours or so instead of sleeping. Once my mind goes active at night like that, I can pretty much say goodbye to falling asleep for a while ( Read more... )

I forgot to mention here, but I pulled an old UV-erasable EPROM from a DVD player that I was gutting a few days ago before tossing out. These days pretty much any EEPROM is electronically-erasable in some fashion or another (hence the extra E in the name there), but this type requires UV light via the quartz window on the top to do the job.

Since soldering wires is a horrible, horrible job, I've been poking around again for PCB manufacturers. I thought I'd found one that was like $2 a board, but it turned out to be $2.50 per square inch. I think I found the perfect little processor to possibly carry out my dream of building my own little mini computer (something I've thought about and planned designs for many times).
