As some of you know, I have been battling mysterious illnesses since July 10th. The most recent of which, apparently a common cold, is a topic I have been lightly researching. I offer the following interesting information I have uncovered:

  • Hot fluids such as tea and soup are effective at removing virii-harboring mucus. Chicken soup is particularly helpful, as the fat content soothes the throat walls. More importantly, the vegetable and herbal content of such soup is beneficial to the body's build-in defense mechanisms. An article at HealthDay details the benefits of chicken soup.
  • The body's neurological system can be used as a tool to instruct the immune system to strengthen. An article published by the office of Dr. David Cohen provides an interesting example of this type of mental control over one's own body. Furthermore, simply having a positive attitude can help one fight a cold, according to an article at WebMD.
  • Moderate exercise may strengthen one's immune system, helping the body prevent the onset of colds, according to an article at InteliHealth.
