Japan Blog Day 6

Mar 18, 2010 16:45

Woke up and headed out on a mission... to find hair dye. As I mentioned earlier my hair has gone from a nice, bright green, to a faded.. blonde/green mess! I don't mind standing out, but I don't want it to be because my hair looks like an amatur mess! I walked to the nearby gas stations with little luck excpet for some men's "Gatsby" hair dye at the am/pm (which I decided would work if I didn't find any other kinds). I enjoy walking so I didn't mind walking far and wide if I had to, to find some hair dye. After about a 20 minute walk I came across a drug store I had visted on my second day adventure which had some hairdye (an a nice, english speaking, old shop keeper). I looked through all the hair dyes, they mostly had redish colors, and weird.. orangy blondes which I felt would look weird on the head of a natural blonde. Deciding to be safe (I'm not even sure if the blonde would cover the green) I decided to go with the black dye in the Beauteen brand. The beauteen hair dye was about 480¥ but (a tiny bit more expensive) but I couldn't resist getting it because of the beautiful box art curtesy of Ai Yazawa (my favorite aritst, she did Paradise Kiss and Nana) http://www.ladysquare.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=6048&KW=kanokporn . I left the drug store and walked to my usual meeting place of Freshness Burger where I ordered an iced coffee and sat down with my book, "Skeleton Crew" by Stephen King (man I wish I could just sit down and read for an hour every morning... but back at home I'm just so busy...).

Once Kyle came we decided to go to Ueno (he knows the area the best since he lives out there) and we decided to grab some curry from a place that he promised was great. The resturaunt keeps was a bit pushy, insisting we order right away, but luckily we looked at the menu outside before we went inside so I ordered a veggie curry with naan (this was indian curry, not japanese, as indian is my favorite.. although I do plan on eating some japanese curry soon!). The curry came out with a GIANT thing of naan which the owner replaced free of charge when we ran out. The curry was so flavorful and good, I got the hot, but I wish I would have gotten very hot as I felt like it was lacking a bit of spicyness. I finshed all of my naan and my curry and felt quite full (800¥ was a bit pricy but definitly worth it!). After lunch we decided to walk off our bellies (they felt like they were bulging like on Scooby Doo) and we went in a store which is almost like a Japanese wal mart, as it has EVERYTHING and more. Make up, wigs, sex costumes, sex toys, bikes, novelty toys etc... EVERYTHING. We wandered around for a bit and decided to leave and find a bathroom.

We finally found one and I went in to relieve myself of my water weight only to find... well.. a hole in the ground really. The toilet was on the ground and I guess you are susposed to take ur pants off and squat? I seriously sat there for 5 minutes trying to figure out what to do and decided to do the earlier mentioned technique. Not sure if that's how you use it but I couldn't hold it much longer to figure it out! (lol). After that was over we walked down a markert and found an arcade. In Akihabara we played the Haunted Musuem and we were delighted to find that game agian! This time we played and were able to get to the bonus last level where aliens invade the musuem.. sadly I didn't see the time limit and was aiming for the aliens, not the space ship, so we ALMOST won for good but ended up getting abducted thus we got the bad ending ;-; sorry Kyle! There are no continue opportunities at the point so we will forever wonder... the ending that could have been. We walked into some game stores with awesome figurines that Eric would have loved! (Leather face, Freddie Kruger, The Terminator) but sadly they were foreign movie icons thus very very expensive, so I had to pass on them although it would have made a great gift for Eric.

We were both pretty tired today, the weather was cold and a bit sluggish, and Kyle had a date with his girlfriend Momo tonight so we cut today short. I rode the train home and bought a Suntory Chu-hi (its like an alcholic fruit juice.. this one is cherry flavor) and will go grab dinner in a bit (mm soba sounds better and better the hungrier I get). Tonight I will dye my hair so wish me luck! lol
Tomorrow Kyle promised to take me to a bar for a drink and we will try find that market I mentioned the other day... hopefully it will be warm and sunny!

Love y'all!
