Hey all thought I'd drop by before the end of my first day of my fourth week as a vegan!
I'm having a blast and eating well. I eat quite a bit of the stuff I am allowed to eat, such as chips and salsa (my guilty pleasure) and lots of spaghetti and other junky foods. Due to this eating habit I haven't been losing weight, as most vegans do, but I didn't decide to become vegan for weight loss, I chose to make the change for the animals.
Today I was watching Jungle to Jungle and then Home Improvement on TBS when I wondered what ever happened to my pre-teen love, Jonathan Taylor Thomas. I looked him up and discovered that he's still very attractive and better yet, a vegetarian! How crazy how things work out, I knew we were meant to be! :D lol just kidding.
I began to play Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for Game cube. It's a pretty fun game, a little poor graphics wise and with very very difficult sections, but fun none the less. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes survival horror.
Last week I began to clean out my cabinets of non-vegan cosmetics. I used to use "Clean and Clear" by Johnson and Johnson for my face wash. The product was alright and kept my face clear but once I began to look up products that tested on animals I found that Johnson&Johnson are some of the worst animal testers to date. Instead I bought the Alba Hawaiian Facial cleanser which since has not shown results but in retrospect it's been less than a week. I'll update with how it works once I use it for a month or so (usually how long it takes for my face to adjust. I bought many new products though in my quest to be vegan including, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, hand soap, conditioner and lip balm. The toothpaste is form Tom's of Maine and I am very impressed. It has great foam and leaves my mouth feeling clean and fresh and would recommend it for everyone.
I have wanted to buy vegan cosmetics but have to research them. Most grocery and drug stores carry lots of makeup brands there were either tested on animals or contain animal ingredients. I've found some websites such as
http://www.affordablemineralmakeup.com/ , www.sevicosmetics.com , and www.vegancosmetics.org all of which carry high quality vegan cosmetics and are slightly expensive except for affordable mineral makeup which has a great selection at a reasonable price. After rent I plan on investigating these websites thoroughly and asking for samples (which you can buy for much cheaper) so that I can restock and get rid of my cruelty makeup (such as neutrogena).
Well, we'll see what happens, Stay healthy and happy my friends! Time for Ms. Amanda to have a drink... Cheers!
