Funimation Sucks

Funimation sucks... I always knew this, but I just don't really deal with dubs... I just don't. Even when they're the ones I consider good, I'm more likely to watch the anime fansubbed. They just have easier access. (Yes, I live in Canada, so downloading anime is legal bitches. It's like a library; One person sharing with others, all for personal ( Read more... )

Well... I googled "Funimation sucks" and here I am. It's already been over 2 years after you've posted this but yeah. I've never liked FUNimation either. Better yet, I hate ALL the North American companies that license Japanese animes. Recently, FUNimation contacted Phantom Subs group and demanded that they drop Katekyo Hitman Reborn; and they did drop it the next day. I already knew that FUNimation licensed many great animes but this is just like throwing a lighter on me while covered in oil. The show was becoming soo awesome (although I read the manga too) and high quality HD subs were finally being released! I've experienced those horrible subs that these stupid companies released, such as Naruto. It's absolutely pathetic, especially compared to Dattebayo Fansubs or Phantom Subs. Now DB is dropping Naruto Shippuuden for real in January apparently t_t. Even if another group picks up Naruto Shippuuden, they probably won't be as quick as DB who releases the subbed episode a day after it aired.
I completely agree with how the whole situation is like a library. Fansubs and scanlations are exactly like libraries; the books are viewable for FREE! Why not ban the public sharing of millions of books? :\
It's really stupid. I just want to send FUNimation and all the other companies tons of hate mail but I know that's just a waste of time.

It's been a bit since you posted this responce so I don't know if you have more details now, but I believe the case of Dattebayo dropping Naruto is slightly different.
It's being released by the actual company that makes Naruto now.

In Japan, DVDs are rediculously priced. We're talking like $50 for a single or two episode DVD. And DVDs are where they make most of their money, so subs are actually cutting in to their initial profits.
So, in an effort to stop this, they're going to be subbing and releasing the anime themselves, but obviously won't be making it available to people in Japan.
For free, you can watch an episode of Naruto one week after it airs, which is on par with a fansub group.
For a monthly fee you can watch it one HOUR after it airs.
Dattebayo is dropping it simply because there's no point in trying to compete.

Seems like a decent deal to me, but I have yet to see what the sub quality is like, so I don't know if writing is done in broken engrish or not.

lol, yeah so FireFox add-on notified me pretty quick about a new e-mail, which showed me this~
Yeah, still hating on FUNinmation but not as much. I guess my hate went down a little. As for Naruto, I don't really mind that Dattebayo is dropping it. I read their entire post about it and it can be understandable. What Crunchyroll and Viz is doing is reasonable. I just saw some of the subbing for Naruto Shippuuden and they're decent. If it's just once week after the release then soon enough, it will be like Dattebayo release speeds. I mean like I just have to wait an extra week or so and then everything falls into place and I won't even remember that the episode is one week later d:
It'll turn into watching Naruto once a week like how it was.
At least Dattebayo said they're still subbing Bleach~

Funimation should have both subs and dubs... And I do agree with you that I enjoy ADV films, or Gonzo much more then Funimation.
