Today was my first day of official work.
Well... I say official, because it is my first official job (as apposed to filing in my mom's office or babysitting), but I wouldn't really say we did much official work.
I'm working at Save on Foods by the way. Cashier.
We spent like three hours filling out legal documentation and watching instructional videos. After that we got a tour of the place.
When Maria was showing us around, she showed us where the garbage compactor was and commented on some of the saftey stuff we had to read. When shutting it down you need to actually take these locks, and totally lock the powerbox so no one can turn it on when you're inside of it. (Not that I think we'll ever be doing that. Trained personel only, either for cleaning or repair.)
She commented, "It would be very unhealthy if someone turned it on while you were inside," and then she paushed for a second as she realized what she had said, "Unhealthy to the point of DEATH!"
After that we had to just walk through the entire store, and greet people, which was very akward, but I think that was the point. Most people don't even look up as you go by, so you feel really stupid if you get their attention just to say 'hi.'
After that we took turns greeting people at the door, which was much easier, since they're actually looking up at you, and kind of expecting it. However it seemed kind of odd, because with two girls there giving simultaneous greetings, people must have been wondering what we were trying to sell them.
After that it was more instructional, and.... yeah, that's about it. We ended up being let go a bit early since the conference room we were using was needed for a meeting.

My mom randomly picked me up from the bus stop after I'd left, and she needed to go to Rona, so I took that opportunity to buy sandpaper, which I need for the little bit of sculpting I've started to do. I'm gonna get started with that soon, because a lack of sandpaper was holding me up.
... Now all I need is a Dremel...
