This is my "cool American cartoon" icon.

Let it be known that I was the wrong generation for the many, many parts of '80s cartoon pop culture that permeate the internet. I see people making jokes about He-Man or Jem or TMNT and I feel awkward all around because I only have the vaguest idea what any of those things even are; I never even saw any of them as reruns, probably since as a kid my only TV consumption was Pokemon and whatever my brother wanted to watch on Saturday mornings. (Best way to restrict a kid's access to television: have a TV that is impossible to turn on without knowing twenty arcane rituals.) So, you know, I have no nostalgia whatsoever when it comes to ThunderCats. There were cats, I think? And one of them was a lion? Maybe? With a critter-thing that nobody liked, and I guess some guy shouted "ho" a lot? Yeah, I don't even know.

That being said, twenty years down the line, I will totally be willing to have nostalgia for the remake.

It's not perfect, but it's pretty and it's dramatic and it's not nearly as annoying as it could be and did I mention it's pretty? I was going to be all "yay American animation I knew you could do it!" but then I found it it's actually animated by a Japanese studio, so. Ah well. Some day. Also I am trying to think of the right way to say a thing but words fail me so I'm just going to go with why always the incest. Whyyyyyy. D: Who am I even kidding I would leap upon Tygra/Lion-O like a metaphor I can't think of at the moment. I have come to accept this about myself.

ETA: Completely unrelated, but oh my god this fancasting for a live-action Baccano!. I am torn between "but Lee Pace is way too tall for Jacuzzi D: D: D:" and "oh my god he could do those faces he is perfect forever".

thundercats, baccano!, i like animation
