From the secret corner of the Ballroom 20 lobby where there is an extension plug I am probably not allowed to use (the internet is for everybody, though): I see a gaggle of Hetalia cosplayers. Is that a Spain hugging a Romano? No, wait, that's a Jedi hugging a Romano, I think I've found the new center of the Free Hugs contingent. There are many Bleach people everywhere. Two innadress!Ciels! --oh god they're so pretty, that is not even fair. Many Soras. Many pirates. Many Team Fortress 2 folks. Only a few Jokers, surprisingly, and only one Stormtrooper so far. Yesterday there was, of all things, a Jeremy Clarkson (simple outfit plus a preexisting physical resemblance); he was frequently mobbed. At the Funimation panel I saw a girl whose costume I was sure I recognized, it was from something, she was definitely in costume because that had to be a wig, but I just couldn't place it--and then she picked up a big cardboard traffic sign and I realized, oh, she's female Shizuo in a miniskirt. Well then. Why not.
Best thing that has happened to me so far: at the Yen Press panel, the people had a slideshow to do, but, as they mournfully told us, their laptop had broken, and did anyone happen to have one on them that wasn't a Macbook Air? (I don't know why they didn't want a Macbook Air. Such things are a mystery.) I happened to have--OH GOD THERE'S A CELTY BACK IN A MINUTE MUST GET PICTURE okay now I am back, and anyway, what I was saying was, I did happen to have brought my laptop with me, and they were the most grateful of all, I swear, they called me their savior and promised that if I stopped by their booth I could pick out a free book. So today I did! And actually they offered me two, which is how I ended up with the first two volumes of Kobato, since I have all of Black Butler and Soul Eater and I was not particularly interested in the Twilight comic. I am not a huge fan of Kobato, but I enjoyed the anime enough and hey, free books. Random acts of kindness, people: they are most beneficial!
