My parents are actually unhappy about not seeing the rest of the season with me! Huh.

Finally caught up on Supernatural! And for the first half of Abandon All Hope I kept thinking about how I really haven't had an emotional connection to the show, I'm attached to the characters but not to the point of actively worried about them--for example, I didn't cry at No Rest For The Wicked, whereas the second season finale of Heroes left me a sobbing wreck unable to think about anything else. And then I started wondering if I'd had an emotional connection to any live-action show since then--Monster, xxxHolic, Kuroshitsuji, and so forth aside--and thankfully I remembered some similar reactions in regards to the fourth season finale of Doctor Who and the second season finale of Torchwood, because I was starting to get a bit worried there. But still, Supernatural? Not high on the emotion list.

--and then came the second half of the episode and uh yeah! Apparently I just don't have deep attachments to the main characters. It would have been useful to know this earlier, self. Just a bit.

On the plus side, Mark Sheppard as a morally-complex demon named Crowley who kisses a guy? I am pretty much completely down with that in every possible way.

(The Real Ghostbusters was also pretty awesome, and rather more respectful to fandom than the previous meta episodes were, I think. Although there should have been more female cosplayers.)

In other news, for some reason or another my dad ended up with the comic adaptation of Metal Gear Solid 2, and he wanted me to read it also for some reason or another, and it just makes me sad. Not because it is a sad story! But because they took out all the crazy. And seriously what is MGS2 without all the crazy. It is nothing, that is what. It didn't even have Raiden getting his crotch grabbed by the President, and that is one of the game's crowning moments. Admittedly there was some crazy, it is kind of impossible to do the story without any whatsoever, but there was a distinct lack of "THE ROOM WAS EMPTY, JUST LIKE YOUR HEART" and "I NEED SCISSORS, 61". (I was okay with it not including the wacked-out Otacon family background, though. Because uh I like to forget about that part anyway.) Also the art was terrible! When based on facial features you cannot tell Solid Snake from Raiden, something has gone very very wrong with the world, and this is fact.

xxxholic, i like actors, i like comics, episode ramblings: supernatural, supernatural, heroes, doctor who, metal gear solid, torchwood, kuroshitsuji/black butler/whatever, monster, good omens
