Hey hey, trailer for
Ponyo, the new Miyazaki flick!
th_esaurus, probably you already know this but it is particularly relevant to your interests in that it is 1) gorgeous animation and 2) starring The Littlest Jonas, and really there are never enough times you can say "The Littlest Jonas", so I felt obligated to mention such things. Also there are the usual slew of actors who were picked more for their name recognition than for their experience in voice acting, but I do not think any of them will be bad per se (although I am not sure about Liam Neeson in the trailer).
I am one of like two people in the world who was not overly impressed with the ending of Howl's Moving Castle, which honestly depresses me, because my childhood was filled with Totoro (to this day we still have a couple catbus plushies lurking around somewhere, and, come to think of it, that was probably the first time I saw both the dub and sub of an anime and decided I liked the sub better, despite being all of eight at the time) and a fair amount of Castle in the Sky as well, and my whole family adores Spirited Away, so I feel guilty for not liking something Miyazaki did. But hopefully this will be better! Because it is difficult to do Suddenly Romance when your main character is eight years and actually a fish. One would hope, at any rate.
My mother, upon watching it, said, "It's Little Mei from My Neighbor Totoro! But I don't think there are any dust bunnies underwater." I can only agree. Even if Ponyo is a boy.
