I keep thinking "I need a Hetalia icon for this character, or this character, because actually there are a great deal of them that are neither Axis nor America nor England", but then I realize I would probably end up with, like, twenty icons and I don't have enough space for that. And I don't really need, like, an icon for Canada. Really. I don't. These are the things I tell myself.
So anyway, obviously the thing to do when you've failed at drawing characters making out is to draw them as women in traditional costume instead. What?
Damn, them Nordics liked red when it came to clothing way back when. And white. And things with crazy amounts of detail I decided to gloss over because I did not really feel like driving myself mad. Anyway, Sweden and Finland are sadly lacking in canonical genderbent character designs, so I have made it my personal canon that at least one of them has to have plaits, because. Yes.You know it. You also know that they were badass motherfuckers even when culturally designated to wear heavy skirts, and many were the foolish enemy soldiers who realized it was wrong to assume a tiny cute girl wouldn't pose any kind of threat. Actually that probably happened with a lot of genderbent nations. Someday there will be fic about this. Oh, someday.
