I never expect much from the daily news but their headline tonight was so insulting that I fumed all the way home from the subway just thinking about it.
"The Arafat Lady Sings" (in two inch type) with an image of Arafat’s crying widow. Suha.
So when Regan dies and we all have to pretend he wasn’t the worst president this country has ever had for a few weeks… but if it’s Arafat we make fun of his wife’s weight?
I don’t care if you hate Arafat-(I don’t think he was perfect.. or even good- )But isn’t it tasteless for an American paper to make fun of the RECENT WIDOW of an important foreign leader?
I mean… this was right on the front page.
The Daily News has no respect for the Muslim world or the greater international community as a whole.
Not only am I going to boycott them, but I’m going to boycott any store or newsstand that carries that paper and inform the owners of the stores and news stands that they are losing business by distributing this kind of trash.
I doubt it will change anything, but it will make me feel better.
