All work and incredibly little play has made Niki a dull girl….
We’re only a couple of months in to the new year and about half of my resolutions have been successfully abandoned. I haven’t started yoga classes back up, I’ve made a much smaller dent in my reading list than I had intended, my longing to be reacquainted with theatre is still just that, and I have yet to create my work of creative work of genius. I’ve had some minor successes, though - I’ve been going out more and stressing out less. I’ve been able to hang out a bit with Dennetta and Andy (and a couple of Dennetta’s brothers and Dan). I went to Al and Ryan’s housewarming party and had a very lovely time catching up. I’ve been out on a couple of dates (?!). Let’s hear it for small victories.
All is quiet on the family front. The drama is still present, but it seems to have been lulled in to a coma by inactivity. The holidays were uncomfortable and obviously sad with both Grandma and Pappy missing, but we all survived unscathed. I can’t help but feel that the grandparents would be disappointed in the current state of things but these things will happen.
Valentine’s Day is coming up. I am typically indifferent about Valentine’s Day, but I am looking forward to it for the mere reason that the Friday the 13th remake is being released that weekend. It isn’t really a straight forward remake of the original Friday the 13th since Jason is the killer (it was his Mama originally) and Jason is seen wearing the hockey mask (which he didn’t get until the third or fourth film). Despite these inconsistencies and the lack of 3D boobs that My Bloody Valentine provided, I am sure it will be a ridiculously fun way to waste some time and cash. Will Niki have a Valentine who is NOT a mythical serial killer? I’ll keep you posted on any developments.
There are about a million and five more things I could ramble on about but I’m feeling very kind and generous.
