Dennetta came over to watch
Project Runway the other night since she is currently sans cable. I normally dislike reality television with a passion but I do find this show pretty fascinating. At least these people don't have to humiliate themselves to win. I also think that you get a nice balance of seeing the actual process of designing and focusing in on the individuals in the competition.
I digress. It was the first time Dennetta has seen the new place and she seemed to approve. She mentioned doing something tomorrow night but since I have a long meeting scheduled in the morning, I do not know how up to it I will be. We also talked about her upcoming nuptials (it is 2006: Get Hitched or Die Tryin', after all) as well as my plan to make the big move.
Speaking of work, I am really not looking to tomorrow's meeting. Nobody wants to be there on a Saturday and it can be somewhat difficult keeping yourself involved in what's going on (although, I have to admit that while I am thinking of all the things I could be doing in the stead of being in the meeting I am well aware that I probably wouldn't be doing anything productive or otherwise).
Brokeback Mountain has finally arrived here in Des Moines. A large number of my out-of-state friends who have seen it have given me rave reviews so I am looking forward to seeing it. The fact that it is more than likely going to clean up at all the award fuctions speaks pretty well of it, too. I have yet to read the story it is based on but hear it is phenomenal. I think Ang Lee's body of work as a director is pretty good, with only a couple of glaring exceptions (
The Ice Storm is probably my favorite). I'm thinking I'll try to see it this weekend - Sunday maybe?
In order to make the big move go smoothly, I've been trying to break down the process in stages. Even after doing this, I still think everything should be manageable. Of course, things can definitely change and rather quickly and nothing has been set in stone...but at least I feel like I'm on the right track, you know?
It appears that Jon Stewart has been selected to host the Oscars. I think
this was one of the first places to run the story. I give you that particular link in lieu of another AP one because I encourage you to read the comments. In addition to the many (subtle) antisemetic remarks, there is concern that the show will be overtly political/ liberal in tone. There is alot I could say, but I think Jon made many of the arguments himself during his now infamous appearance on Crossfire (and of course I have a
link for that, too).
Last night's new episode of The Office was good. Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam on the show, has a
MySpace and her blogs about the behind-the-scenes stuff on the show make a pretty interesting read. She seems really sweet.
Ha! I think this is post might be one of the most random ones to date. Aye well...that will happen on a Friday.
