I've noticed that a lot of my posts start out the same way. Should I be concerned, or just count myself as a creature of habit?
The week turned out pretty uneventful. I went out to dinner with some people from work on Thursday night and towards the end of the meal, they unsuccessfully tried to convince me that our waiter was hitting on me. I might have agreed, but me getting hit on is as likely as....well, let me just say that is so unlikely that I can't even find a fitting comparison. If anything, the guy was probably just wanting a big tip.
I caught the new Harry Potter movie on Friday night. A friend of mine I haven't seen or really talked to in a couple of years e-mailed me out of the blue and she invited to go with her and one of her friends. I invited Dennetta to go but she had gone to a midnight showing on Thursday. As much as I hate to admit it, I might have done the same had I not had to be at work early Friday morning. Anyways, the theatre was absolutely packed with kids (as expected). The movie was pretty good - I'd have to say it is my favorite of the series. I have a tradition of taking my niece to see the Harry Potter movies, but I think this one might be a bit much for her. I'll have to give this one some thought, like the mature and responsible aunt I am. Ha!
Last night Craig, Mike (one of Craig's friends from the Playhouse), and I went to Simpson to see the production of Hamlet. I was very pleased with the show - the lights, music, set, acting, etc. was all done incredibly well (the music was definitely a highlight, though). After the show, we talked to a few people before heading out. The American College Theatre Foundation respondent was there, so we didn't stay long. I wanted to say hello to Jennifer, but she was a bit busy with everything so I didn't get the chance. Going to shows at Simpson has really become a bittersweet experience - I really don't know exactly why.
My mom called the other day to inform me that the family Thanksgiving thing is on Friday. Why? Because my sister and her family are going to the in-laws on Thursday. Not only does this mess up any weekend plans I might have been aiming for, but it proves that I'm somewhat of an afterthought when it comes to these things. I also got a call that some of my friends (who will be back in the area for Thanksgiving) are getting together. The plans for the get-together were in progress, so I am still up in the air on when I'll being heading home and how long I'll actually be there.
burningcandles said it awhile back, and I couldn't agree more: Fall is wonderful because of the award-worthy movies that are released. I know I've done the whole "(Fill in the blank) is out, and I can't wait to see it!!" thing a handful of times and then nothing has come of it because I get busy and/or lazy. But
Capote is now at the Fleur. I'll be there tomorrow night at 7.
